HEAD OF PAYMENTS
We are looking for an experienced Head of Payments (iGaming) to lead our payment operations across our core European markets. In this role, you will own the end-to-end payment product, ensuring our players in Northern & Central Europe enjoy a seamless, localized, and secure transaction experience. You will bridge the gap between technical integration, operational compliance, and commercial strategy, driving acceptance rates up while keeping fraud down.
Job responsibilities:
Payment Strategy & Operations
- Lead the Department: Oversee the daily operations of the payments team, ensuring the quickest possible turnaround times on customer withdrawals and efficient processing of deposits.
- Market Optimization: Take full ownership of payment performance in our key territories (Baltics, Nordics, DACH, other EU markets), ensuring we offer the right mix of local payment methods (e.g., iDeal, Swish, Sofort) for each region.
- PSP Management: Act as the primary point of contact for all Payment Service Providers (PSPs) and acquiring banks; manage onboarding, negotiate commercial terms to optimize costs, and maintain high-value relationships.
- Performance Analysis: Establish robust reporting frameworks to monitor KPIs such as Acceptance Rates, Automation ratio, and Cost of Processing; use this data to drive strategic decisions.
Product & Technical Integration
- Drive Product Vision: Champion the payments product vision by identifying emerging trends and customer needs to drive innovation and maintain competitiveness.
- Manage Integrations: Coordinate payment API integrations, working closely with the technical team to prioritize backlogs, troubleshoot errors, and improve current integration functionality.
- UX/UI Optimization: Collaborate with product teams to enhance the cashier platform’s functionality and user journey, reducing friction during the deposit and withdrawal stages.
Risk, Fraud & Compliance
- Compliance Alignment: Work closely with the AML and Legal departments to ensure all payment operations comply with local regulations and licensing requirements.
- Fraud Prevention: Develop and implement anti-fraud procedures and security measures to limit criminal activity, managing high-risk escalations and minimizing fraud losses.
- Anti-Money Laundering: Assist in regulatory system audits and risk assessments to ensure the company meets statutory obligations regarding transaction monitoring.
Our expectations:
Essential Experience
- Industry Background: 5+ years of experience in a similar senior payment role within the iGaming industry.
- PSP Management: Proven track record of managing relationships with Payment Service Providers, including contract negotiation and technical onboarding.
Regional Expertise: Deep understanding of the payment landscape and banking trends across Europe, specifically in the Baltics, Nordics, DACH region, Bulgaria, and Belgium. - Leadership: Experience leading and mentoring high-performing operational teams.
Technical & Soft Skills
- Tech-Savvy: Strong understanding of payment APIs, open banking, and transaction processing systems; ability to communicate requirements to engineering teams.
- Analytical Mindset: Ability to interpret data (acceptance rates, decline reasons) to drive improvements.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Solid grasp of AML directives, KYC/KYB processes, and responsible gaming regulations in regulated European markets.
Language: Professional proficiency in English is required.
